With USA representing the second largest producer of greenhouse gasses of the 195 countries who had signed onto the accord, Trump’s singular withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement has severely impeded our ability to reduce if not eliminate the harm we’ve caused to our atmosphere which scientists agree is already resulting in climatic swings leading to cataclysmic events that will be exacerbated in the coming years. Trump’s rationale that jobs and capitalism matter more than what he claims to be ‘fake news’ and science hoaxes perpetuates the false notion that there is nothing more important than money, encourages Americans to care only about themselves, ignores possibilities for economic gain from investing opportunistically to address climate change, and spreads misinformation that makes people less capable of doing the right thing.
